In early August 2019, the new owners of Twentieth Century Fox, The Walt Disney Company, announced that this movie would be one of the first batch of existing Fox movies to be remade, intended for the Disney+ streaming service. Fans of this movie joked that it would only be a short movie, as Kevin only needed to call using a mobile/cell phone. Additionally, it's unclear how Disney will approach the comedic violence, especially as many doctors have said that the Wet Bandits injuries would actually be life threatening or fatal in reality.
Kevin appears to be quite a mischievous, yet good hearted eight/nine year old. As he's the youngest child, he is often the victim of bullying from his older siblings, with his mom often unfairly chastising Kevin instead of Buzz. He is hot-tempered and often says cruel hurtful comments, particularly when he says he doesn't want to see his family.

On Christmas morning, a truckload of free gifts arrives at the McCallisters' hotel room, sent from a grateful Mr. Duncan for foiling the robbery. Kevin reconciles with his family, and goes to Central Park to give one of his turtledoves to the pigeon lady, cementing their friendship. At a school pageant, during Kevin's solo, his older brother Buzz pranks him; Kevin retaliates by pushing him, which causes the entire choir to fall, ruining the pageant.
On August 14, 2008, Russo reached a mutual agreement with WFAN to let him out of the remainder of his contract. A highly emotional Russo began to break down on air as he talked about his partnership with Francesa. Although he agreed to be paid to scale, he wasn't happy with the fact that they only paid him $414 for his efforts; even the guy who played the pizza delivery boy earned more. Chris Columbus had storyboarded a few scenes in which Kevin would have dreams where the house comes to life. One included the evil furnace in the basement, which would come to life and chase him to the stairs on all fours, and another where several toy nutcrackers would come to life, along with the house. The scenes, however, were too expensive on such a tight budget, and the ideas were dropped. He finally reunited with Harry who had his share of traps and looked to Marv like a chicken, and they joined forces to capture Kevin. John Candy, who played Gus Polinski, also loved to improvise and Chris said he took his cameo appearance “and ran” with the scenes. John Candy, who was a huge comedy personality in the US when Home Alone came out, made a brief appearance as Gus Polinski, but reportedly received just $414 for a day’s work of shooting. “I was Kevin McCallister from about 10 at night to 6 in the morning,” Chris told Entertainment Weekly.
